I got a text from the FW last week that a pheasant was in our yard taunting Ripley. I’ve got a trailcam in the backyard, and lo and behold, he happened to stroll in front of it. Pretty neat to see in our suburban backyard.

The backside of that fence is a pretty heavily-traveled road, but we get a lot of wildlife (deer, turkey, foxes) coming through.

I’ve only seen pheasants in the spring, but we’ve got quite a few marshy areas around, so I’m sure they overwinter in the cattails.

I have only seen one near the Metro in the last 10 years and that was down by Rosemount.

Nice, Ripley wasn’t too upset, he’s probably used to seeing pheasants fly away unharmed already. whistling

Saw one in my neighborhood several years ago. Really out of place.

I live on the river in far north Fargo, I think I’ve seen every species of animal that lives in this area except for pheasants. That’s really cool!

I see Brut’s keeping them at bay. Ripley lit off after a turkey last spring. rotflol

Last winter I had a BIG Rooster showing up most every morning to my corn feeder. I had not seen him or any other ones all winter. I assumed something got him. Last week I looked out and there was one. he’s been out there a fair amount since. They sure are shy and cautious birds. he’s always on watch. if I even move in the window he will back off. They truly are beautiful birds.

Do you really need all that lawn? Replace with a nice CRP blend with switchgrass.

And I see a nice place to grow some strips of corn and millet…

I pulled the card out of the trail cam last night, and so far this week, it’s caught video of the following in our yard: squirrels, rabbits, the pheasant, a raccoon, an opossum, deer, and a fox. Quite the Maple Grove menagerie!

The fox needs to get to work on the bunny population. rotflol

You should keep the updates coming when he stops by. Pretty cool to see that he’s coming back

I made sure to get some more corn and birdseed out there yesterday. A deer gobbled it all up the night before.

My dad in Greenfield has 4-5 come in now on his property. He’s pretty excited about it as well.
