Submersible led

Im thinking of adding some sort of led work light or light bar to the back of the boat trailer this spring. I think it would really help at dark ramps and while backing in the dark shed when I get home. Id wire them into the back up lights. Question is are these light submersible? Pic of what im thinking? Thanks

LED lights at trailer level can be blinding. Better to have them mounted as high as possible.

I think at most you will find these generally listed as “water resistant”. While the actual LED may be waterproof the internal wiring inside the housing is likely corrode.
I have some similar lights mounted to the fenders. May not look entirely sleek, but it gets the job done and they stay out of the water.

I do have some LED COB lights mounted on my trailers for my hunting boats. These lights get submerged all the time and have held up just fine.

The ones you have the pic of are water resistant. I put submersible leds I got from etrailer.com on mine, and wired into back Up in my plug. They work freakin awesome!

If they are wired as back up lights, who are they going to blind? They will only be on when the tow vehicle is in reverse and the driver needs to see where he is backing. Same as headlights when going forward in the dark.

If a second person is driving a boat onto the trailer, the tow vehicle driver can shift to anything other than reverse and the backup lights will be off. That and if the lights are submerged, they won’t be near as bright when under water.

The guy trying to launch the boat. There is a lot of glare.

In my experience glare has not been an issue at all. YMMV

I was concerned about glare and was told having too bright near the ground wouldnt work well.

I have two sets I use. I have the led strips low on my trailer. They are better than I imagined they would be. I have another pair of spots up high on my cap that are wired (switchd) ti my accessory and back up in my trucj bed rv plug. Some if the places i go, I need to back up 200 to 500 feet diwn a logging road. I can light that up like a run way when needed

The ones I used that are pictured above have a hole drilled through the trailer. I think it was about 3/4″ or so for the sealed pod of the wiring.
