In my younger days buddies dad had a 21′ glass boat the one that had 3′ sides. All I had was a 2 wheel drive ford ranger with a hamster wheel motor but we wanted to go water skiing. When we went to take the boat out we had to use the motor on the boat pushing to get it out of the water and yes people laughed but we didn’t care.
Thanks for all the replies, especially the real world experiences. Specs may look good but real performance is what matters.
I understand towing ratings and how they work.
My old truck was a Ridgeline, it towed better than the Chevy Colorado I have now.
I see a lot of the outbacks on the road when driving to and from work. It got me thinking whether if it was a good option for a future vehicle.

Some people will bash Subi’s but they make a great car. They probably have the best awd system out there.
I’ve owned four of them.Never had a problem with any of them. Dumped my big Lund and F150 and never looked back I put the rear seats down and have room for my one man flip over. Probably has more or as much cargo room than the box of most pickups. very reliable and hold their value. I don’t understand the bashing of them or the people driving them. I guess I’m comfortable in my manhood to say I like them and do not need a big truck to pull my V16 that probably weighs 800 lbs.
My dad has one and they are great vehicles. I wouldn’t be afraid of any ramp with AWD.
I had to borrow it for pheasant hunting this fall.
Well at least post pics of towing lol. We all know they have a back seat and can haul a couple mutts and people.
I’ve always liked subi, the older boxer motors were never know for reliability but these days is way different. I wouldn’t hesitate to pull small trailers and such with it
I have a photo if I could ever figure out how to load it, if you have ever been at the ramps on lower pool four or pool five you’ve probably seen my rig.

Couple other things. You will probably need a rise on your hitch depending on your trailer. I also just kept my wiring harness ran into my rear hatch area as there wasn’t a good mounting location near the hitch outside.
