The walleye guys are starting to get antsy about hitting the river for the spring run, just wondering about the timing of this years sturgeon bite up there given this weather. I’d like to make it up for a day or two this spring.

For a newbie to this area, do I have it pictured right that the sturgeon bite is in the river closer to the opening to LOTW and out into the lake a ways.

I was up to this area for the first time in December so I can picture it in my mind now, but would love some help pinpointing the areas fished for sturgeon in the spring and what this weather will do to the timing of that bite.

    Thanks,

And this one is around the corner from the day marker only a short ways. You can see a little of the Wiggy between the grass.

The sturgeon migrate up the river to spawn some go as far up as the Little Fork river. The river has its own population of sturgeon year round. The dam at Ifalls can be very good for sturgy.I got this one a few years ago at the dam.I Don’t hold them like this anymore!
Four mile bay is a good place to start right after ice out it is loaded with prespawners heading up the river. This is usually the first stop for me .I also check the dam as soon as the landing opens.I have got some real nice fish at Birchdale after the walleye season closes.Sorry for the pix.

Shouldn’t be hard to figure out where to fish. Follow the rest of the fleet to start.
