Stupid thought when I cant sleep

If Canada, Mexico, and the United States are all in North America why are people from Canada Canadians and people from Mexico Mexicans but we are Americans? Shouldnt we be United Statesians?

Because it sounds dumb. It would be United States Citizens, and that still sounds dumb. Here’s a question why aren’t Americans considered an ethnicity? Canadians, Mexicans, and US peoples, have shared behaviors, and languages that makes us identifiable to the outside world. Generally other parts of the world treat Canadians and Americans the same when they come to a restaurant underdressed or aghast at the lack of ice. (At least they used to). We have shared customs and foods.

When asked if I’m a Republican or a Democrat, I say I’m neither. I’m a US Citizen. I want what is best for the country as a whole. Not just what is best for me or a certain party.

Mexico isn’t full name, it’s United Mexican States or United States of Mexico in english, so they’d be United Statesians too if we didn’t just use the part that was different. We just happen to have America in the name.

Well dang I just learned something new. I checked Canada they used to be The Dominion of Canada. They could be The Dominions.

Americans cross the border into Canada or Mexico
Canadians and Mexicans cross the border into “The States”

Weird you bring this up. I’m in the DR currently. Was sitting next to a Canadien. Waiter bar tender asked where everyone was from she said Canada and he says to her oh the Americans. She was appalled and I had to listen to her complain about the US. He asked me and I said the states and he says oh the Americans. He then tried to explain to her that Mexico Canada Us is the Americans to him and them. She didn’t like that by the way. He then went on that he loved all Americans. I smiled while she bitched and tip the guy generously on my next drink.

Kind of reminds me of Cheach and Chong when they sing Mexican American song.

Yes we are all an ethnicity (Mexicans, Canadians, And USians). I’ve had poutine tacos for cripes sake. Mexican Americans go to night school and take Spanish and get a B.
