Guys looking to see what most use on the ice or which is better. I am needing to get some control with this quad atv that I have and wondering what would be best?
    Thanks

I have run studs on the front and chains on the rear for several years. This season I removed the remaining studs and put chains on the front instead.

IMHO,,, chains have several advantages (A) more tractions under varied conditions (studs add nothing in deep snow) (B) studs can work loose and get thrown from the tires, chains will not (C) easy to slip the chains off for summer ATV usage.

The only drawback (for my machine), I had to add 1.5 spacers behind my front wheels to gain the needed clearance to run chains on the front. This just meant another additional one time cost.

I use chains because they are xheap, easy and removable. Cuts through very deep snow too. Only downside is that they would tear up my ramp and floor without some protection.

I have an enclosed cargo trailer, (not a fish house/toy hauler) and I’ve screwed down 14 inch wide strips of chip board as a wear strip to protect the actual trailer floor and ramp surface.

I have used both. I don’t like the screw in studs because when you spin on ice they tear out. Chains do a far better job, but get 4 link v-bar chains and you will be all set.

I run chains on all 4.
I have v-bars on the Griz and they work great.
Just bought a set of diamonds for the Commander and have yet to use them.

I actually prefer the two link V-bar. Two link V-bar will run smoother and has more “bite” than the 4 link V-bar version. Yes two link is more expensive but it’s a one time expense.
