Not nearly as heavy. I bought the bibs for my son last Christmas and they are great for fall muskie fishing and early spring fishing but will also be fine for the winter. Really cold days he may need his long johns underneath. I looked at the coat the other day and it is lighter also. Will need a sweatshirt and maybe a long john top under the coat if outside all day. Probably a suit that can be utilized from late fall to mid spring but on those really negative below zero days you will need additional layers.
Hard to say as everyone’s tolerance level is a little different to the cold but you will need to have layers on a really cold day. The coat and bibs will definitely keep you dry.
I bought the Trekker bibs for $100 and sold them for the same amount shortly after trying them on. I couldn’t stand the fact that the front thigh pockets had velcro on them, and the “sharp” half of the velcro was on the part of the pocket that would scrape against the back of your bare hand or catch any soft glove when you stuck them in the pocket. I hate velcro pockets.
I bought the Trekker jacket. $100. Figured it is a little big but fits good and is really light. I’m going to put my heated Milwaukee jacket under it. That’s light as well. I’ll also have on regular under clothing as well.
We’ll see how it works in that combo. Coat feels great. I have no issue with the fit or fabric.
I don’t happen to know much about the Trekker suit because I already have the predator and climate suits but thought I would pass along that Sportsman’s warehouse has them online for $90 per piece. Took a brief look at them at the show yesterday and they definitely have less features than the other suits but may be a good option on a budget.
