Strikemaster/Solo recoil question

    Guys,

I know this has been covered on threads previously. I’ve read through them and tried the home fixes suggested (I basically ran a can of WD-40 through it).

However, my Strikemaster with the Solo recoil recently stopped recoiling all the way. Have a call into Strikemaster. But just wondering if, in addition to the WD-40 solution suggested, any of you have had any other home “fixes” that maybe worked? About a foot of the cord won’t retract. I can still get it started, but….obviously want to make sure it’s 100 %.

Take a look again it’s most likely pinched under and can be fixed with a flat head screw driver. Might have to pull all the way off to get unpinched. This happens from pulling too far when starting it’s the only bad thing I can say about the solo. You have to make sure to only do short pulls and not long or this will happen again. The recoil comes off the track when pulled too far out.

Interesting. I don’t think that’s it, but I’ll sure give it a shot. Appreciate the tip.

The recoil spring on mine popped of it’s retainer a couple weeks ago. If you patient, you can take it apart and recoil that spring up. I got mine working again, but almost ran out of patience. If you do this, watch out for that spring. When it unloads, eye balls and fingers could take the brunt of it.

For $30.50 at D-Rock for a complete new recoil, I’d go that way for sure. Way less hassle.

X2. I cannot say enough good things about D-Rock. I’ve owned several used augers over the years, some that have been abused. After a trip to D-Rock for repairs, I’ve never had to go back.

Appreciate all the info guys. I’ll try one more time at a fix, but will likely just order a new assembly. Btw, I just checked….$10 cheaper at H2 Outfitters compared to D-Rock. (once you factor in shipping and handling).

If I was closer to D-Rock, I’d swing by. But no dice.
