We were able to test the new Strikemaster 24v ice auger, it’s the real deal – check it out for yourself!
Press Release below:
I cant imagine buying the 24 for pqnfish holes when there are so many great options to run a hand auger bit and multi/ everyday use drill
it claims it crushes the handheld drills, thats hard to believe at the price. Ill save some cash and take 2 seconds more per hole
Maybe they’ll get it right this time around…
What issues did you have? My 40v has been perfect.
Faster than a drill? Sorry, I’ll believe it when I see it.
The 24V was faster than the Milwaukee Fuel with a 3AMP battery that we’ve been using on the ice the last couple seasons. Both augers were running the 8″ Lite Flite. How much faster? Not much. But it did consistently beat the hand drill to the bottom of the hole. If you’ve drilled holes with a Milwaukee Fuel consider this info a baseline for comparison sake.

I still haven’t head a reply to this question.
I didn’t have any issue with my 40volt wife will be pissed if I tell
her I need a different one.

Why in the world would you want the 24 if you have a 40 ?. The 40s are sweet. If you need to lightn it up but the drill and auger bit and save money
I’ve been incredibly happy with my 40V and have converted several friends as well the past few seasons.
What’s the weight difference between the 24V and 40V if both are running the lite-flight 8″ bit?
Seems like SM is trying to fill an unnecessary gap with this one.
Looks like they are targeting a price point with this product as it appears pretty comparable to buying an auger + HD lithium hammer drill combo. The SM auger handles might be worth the couple extra pounds with the dedicated setup compared to the drill… I had my drill setup catch a couple times at the bottom of the hole and torque my wrist pretty good. Faster speed of the drill isn’t always better IMO
I didn’t realize ice fishing was a race?????? weight is more important than speed……change my mind.

Well, as a matter of fact…nope, I got nothing.
It’s like how Marcum could do no wrong; until they dropped IDO as a sponsor.
I think the reviews are pretty fair here; just getting harder and harder to find something really new and innovative in the fishing, especially ice fishing industry.
Do the sell just the head unit? I already have Lite-Flite drill. I will only need the head unit.

I hope they offer the 40V with an 8″ light flite this year…..
Strikemaster are you listening??? (cough, cough, Pro-staff)

Great info! I hope to see one of these in use this winter.
I will be buying one as soon as I can find it in stock. 50 holes a day is a lot for me usually. If I expect a ton more holes than that, I will bring my gas auger. Also Fishusa shows the spare battery for only $50 Compared to $200 for a 40v spare battery. I will likely buy the auger and a spare battery and be set for still less cost than the 40v, weighs less, and still be able to do 100 holes a day if I ever felt the need.
