Just fired up the auger, started no problem. Gave it a liitle gas no problem, gave it a full gas and it stalled. Tried it again still the same problem. Any ideas?

Sounds like you need to clean the carb. Did you run see foam in your gas? For us it helps greatly. Fairly simple to do. Cleaned my carb twice the first 12 years of strikemasters early years and none the last 5 with See Foam use. Scary to think how many holes we have cut.

One assumption: The fuel is new this fall, correct? I’m guessing so but just in case you’re using leftover gas it could be cheap thing to correct.

Spent hours cleaning carbs and other thins just to figure out it didn’t help one time.

Changed the gas and it worked like new. Do yourself a favor and try different gas. Doesn’t matter how new you think it is. Try different gas.

I will do that first, before the carb clean. I will let you know how it goes.

Maybe not warmed up all the way? I know mine (given this is mid winter) will die when given full throttle when it’s not warm enough…

Did you drain the tank and run it dry at the end of last season?
    New fuel this season?
Did you give it a chance to warm up after sitting for 6-7 months with maybe old fuel in it?

If any seasonal engine is not properly stored I would expect it to run lousy, maybe not the first year but after a few years of bad habits issues are going to arise.

Aaron – Many good suggestions here, but I’d wait a bit till stations get their winter blend gas in, that hits somewhere around Nov. 1st- 15th in alot of areas. Your solo engine is tweaked to run best with this type of fuel. You’ll want high-octane non-oxygenated gas for the best results, and make sure your gas/oil ratio is correct. Here’s a website that’ll help you find non-ethanol, non-oxy gas near you:

I would also check the fuel vent (red plug in pick) for any blockages. Many times, augers that bog down just aren’t getting the air they need. Alternative way to test this is to twist open the gas cap a touch.

Either way, you’re looking into it at the right time. If it needs a tuneup, you’ll get your auger back faster by getting it looked at soon! H20 Outfitters in Big Lake or D-Rock in Blaine are authorized Strikemaster Service Centers.

    Good luck!

Thanks for the info Joel on the gas, as for the tune up’s that’s a little far to travel as I’m in Colorado ;) BTW this is why I love this site, as there are so many people on here who will help out with any questions people may ask.
