Does the carb have a idle screw you can adjust?

If the idle is correct the clutch spring is probably broke. They are a pretty simple fix if your handy.

A couple bolts will get it apart to check the spring or for ice build up. I took mine apart for a stuck condition, turned out to be ice inside.

Had the same issue. It was the clutch spring.

You need to split the case like in the pictures. Should be some bolts on the bottom. Take the bit off. Dump the gas out so it doesn’t make a mess and turn it over, there should be 4 bolts to take out.

You have a spring broke in the gear box, like talked about above you will need to crack the gear case no way around it.

Put it back together and see if it still spins all the time. If it does, bring it to a repair place.

That screw you adjusted before wasn’t the idle screw, it looks like the high limit throttle stop. The idle screw should be right on the carb itself. Also check to see that the throttle are is returning to the idle stop. I just sold my Mag2000 a few weeks ago or I could take a better picture to show you.

At least you know now that the clutch looks good and the grease is in good shape.

Allen, although I don’t have this model of auger, here’s my assessment. If you look at the last of the 3 pic post you posted above, that is the idle speed adjustment screw. If you look closely, that screw tapers to a point, and the throttle plate linkage arm rides on that taper. As you adjust the screw clockwise, the linkage plate rides higher on the taper, holding the throttle open further. Counter-clockwise would reduce the idle speed.

    Hope this helps.

Can’t help with where the idle screw is, but typically they have a spring under them to keep the screw from vibrating. You may need to rebuild the carb. D-Rock Ice Center has parts.

I did manage to find the owners manual though. The screw you turned is the governor speed adjuster. I’d suggest turning it back to where you think it was and start the auger. You’ll have to adjust the screw to get the auger to run right. I’m thinking it may surge pretty bad if the screw it backed out too far.
