Anyone running the strikemaster lithium lazer auger? Thinking about upgrading but wanted to hear some reviews before I pull the trigger.
    Thanks

I recently purchased one. Just used it on Red Lake last two days. About 18 inches of ice. excellent torque, constant speed, cuts like butter. I like the fact it can use any Strikemaster component so I could use my existing 12 inch extension or my old auger if I wanted. The best part is you could run it wearing a shirt and tie, no oil, no smoke. You can place it in your SUV, truck or car without worries of stains, gas leak etc. Charger is very compact. I had an insulated lunch tote that the battery and charger fit into perfectly for transport. One drawback. Spare batteries are $250. Not really necessary as what I have been reading, 50-60 holes on a charge. I am not concerned because my age precludes hole hopping beyond 20 holes.

I will never go back to gas. Propane was an option but man I am glad I did not go there.

I’ve only had it for a month, but I’m thrilled with mine. It’s one of the nicest fishing tools I’ve ever used. I pop a lot of holes when fishing and have yet to run it out of juice. Just two days ago, I drilled 50-55 holes through 8″ of ice and had 3/3 bars left on the battery charge meter. When I’m hole-hopping, I just set it right on top of my folded-down Kenai Pro without any worry of smearing gas/oil all over it. Unless this thing completely craps the bed prematurely, which I highly doubt, I’ll never buy another gas auger again.
