Can anyone tell me what the pitch of an 8 inch strikemaster Lazer is supposed to be. I realize that everyone is going to tell me send it to strikemaster or d – rock but I’m in the duluth area and don’t want to drive that far to get my pitch adjusted when I can do it myself

I may be wrong and if I am please correct me. I believe most engineering specifications are proprietary information, meaning they don’t release it to the general public. The pitch is one thing that I would be very careful about. It has a very tight tolerance and it’s not easy to get perfect results unless you have a jig and experience.

Have you considered removing the powerhead and just ship the auger to SM or D-Rock? If you ship inside of Minnesota UPS and Fed Ex both have next day deliveries for ground service. If you call ahead and send it in on a Monday there is no reason you shouldn’t get it back on Thursday or Friday. I know you mentioned that you didn’t want to hear SM or D-Rock but just thought I would mention the shipping work around. Hopefully I’m wrong about the proprietary info and you can try it yourself.

Can I put a dumb question in this thread? When you say pitch what is that referring to?

I have an assumption but that usually gets me in trouble. Just picked up new blades at lunch for an identical auger. Want to try to prevent a mistake for the first time ever!

I believe you are correct hunting4walleyes as it is probably classified info. Shipping is probably the best way to go at this I just don’t know how much it will cost.

The pitch is the angle of the blade when it’s mounted on the auger. The fighting pitch I believe is the distance between the fins on the auger itself.

So if you did a dumb thing like I did and tried using your auger as a jack hammer to try and get the ice shavings off doah you may have a pitch issue

I am a mechanic at a small engine shop and do work on a lot of ice augers but it’s always either engine or gearbox, never do anything with the auger bits except get the blade/blades sharpened. However we don’t sell strikemaster and I imagine you have to be a strikemaster dealer to get your hands on one of those jigs .

ME94 – I just ran a freight quote using our account number and this is what I used. The price came out to $17.64 using Fed Ex Ground. Your cost may be different if you don’t have an account. You can always find a friend and have it shipped out of a business that has an account and it should be close.

You can also shim the blades with shim stock.
