I’m still rocking the old jiffy model 30 that just won’t die, but this may be the season I pull the trigger on a new auger. I was originally looking at the propane Eskimo or the pro 4 lite. But I came across an amazing deal on a new strikemaster chipper lite for 265 bucks. Just worried bout possibly being under powered. I guess I’m not trying to win races so speed isn’t a big concern. But wanna know I can make it thru 2 plus ft of ice if I need to. The lightweight is a huge plus cuz I run and gun a lot but I also don’t wanna sacrifice durability. Any thoughts or opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Good choice with a chipper blade but I really like my jiffy sd60i, cuts through ice like butter and is tougher than a rock. I like SM but I really like my jiffy…

Eskimo propane is a wonderful auger!

The Eskimo does look pretty sweet. Just the 32 pounds in my main concern. I know it’d be ok, my old jiffy has to be a lil heavier then that. But I used a friends nils that weighs 24 and it was so much nicer carrying it around all day… but there’s no way I’m forking over 600 bucks for a nils. I could get that chipper lite and an lx3 for that ☺

I have the chipper light, the thicker the ice, the better it cuts! It isn’t as fast of a cut as my old 3 horse Tecumseh, but the weight savings is really nice!
