I have an strikemaster Lazer pro that’s two years old and I was starting it today to get ready for next weekend and I notice when it’s idling the shady spins . Is that normal . Or is something. If some could give me little help that be awesome . Thank

I don’t quite understand the question but if you mean the auger spins then screw down the idle screw so the rpm’s are lowwer.

Where exactly on the auger is that . Not mechanical sound .

Follow the throttle cable to where it ends and moves a metal piece that is connected to the carburetor. There should be a screw that touches the metal piece. Turn it out a quarter turn at a time until it ides without the auger turning.

You could mess with the idle but I’d guess that a clutch spring busted. I’ve replaced 2 already within my first year and my fuel line pops off. Super disappointed in my first ice auger from strikemaster

x2 on the spring. I’ve also replaced mine twice in 3 years. Last year it was so bad that I lost cutting power, motor would just bog down at high rpms and couldn’t cut holes. Ruined a trip. Brought it to D-Rock and they had it ready to go a few days later. I think it cost about $50 for the repair.

Make sure you upgrade to the winter rated fuel lines, I be live they are clear, if you have the black fuel lines they don’t accommodate the cold well and pop off. I know its a hassel, but at least its easy and cheap to fix.

Brought it in I had gas leaking from my carburetor and the gas line that goes to primer. What a joke

doah WHAT?! It’s an auger, used to drill through the ice. Ice has to be 32 degrees or colder. That means winter. Augers do no good in the summer for us. That makes me wonder about them. Stupid things companies do to make more money. Now we have to upgrade our augers to get them to work. ???

If you email strikemaster about the fuel line they send you a new one for no cost. It happened to mine last year. It was their booboo so they will make it right.

Strikemaster does not build the engines, they buy them from Solo. They are made to order with winter fuel lines. Solo builds 90% warm weather engines and some were accidentally shipped out with summer fuel lines. If you were one that received one, I believe they are giving out the correct fuel line. This was on a very small percentage of augers.

Thank god, I was worried. I thought another great company went down the drain, thank you for setting it straight!

It’s not just the fuel line but also the tranny/ case. They are made different from past auger. If you get lucky you run a few years before the auger shaft starts to want to keep spinning. Mines did that in 1 season with minimal use.
Its not my opinion or experience but this is what the repair center told me.

Well I don’t own a Strikemaster, So it really doesn’t bother me too much, now if I did own one that had all these problems I would be quite ticked off. I use a Jiffy right now and it cuts like a dream and is tough as nails! I wouldn’t trade it for anything. My grandpa has a lazer mag strikemaster and I like it but it can be difficult at times. You gotta be so careful with the blades and it’s nice and light but I just prefer my Jiffy over the strikemaster. My grandpa won the strikemaster and he’s never used it. I’m the only one to ever use it and he’s had it for a few years now. No serious problems yet, knock on wood

You said the shaft spins so maybe it is a shear pin between the motor and the shaft. Or as mentioned a broken clutch spring. Lay it down and rotate the auger shaft, motor off and see if it goes around easily or has resistance from the motor.

The tech told me it was the case and something about the design without a c clamp fitting. He replaced it with an new old stock case and clamp, and said I should never have any issues again.

My SM 3hp Lazerpro has been sitting at Drock for 2 months… Initially had the fuel lines replaced right away after purchase. Ran it alot for guiding last season (fastest auger on the planet). Eventually it just quit on me and wouldn’t start anymore so I brought it into Drock again. The tech called me and said my engine burnt up and SM doesn’t carry the replacement parts to fix it. I used only SM oil 40:1 for the auger’s 1 year lifespan. Bought the auger brand new. Kind of have a sour taste in my mouth right now over the whole situation…
