So i bought this last year, used it 5 times or so. I never dunked it in water/snow, took good care of it, i never even had it exposed to snow in the back of a truck or on a sled/quad even. Every time i got home it went in the basement and was stored upright.

I plugged it in to charge it for the first outing today for my 2016 season, won’t take a charge. I take it apart and this is what i see.

the battery is rusted right out and 2 bus bars are split so thats why it wouldn’t charge. this is BS, the battery case isn’t even sealed, at all, just 3 plastic covers with no gasket at all. For all i know this could be simply condensation from taking it in the house cold, and letting it warm up, condensate and then rust right out.

i am not happy at all, i emailed them to see what they have to say. I mean i have a background in RC cars so I can solder up this pack and fix it, then silicone the crap out of the case to seal it up but this is BS, i guarantee if you all take yours apart this is going to be what you find too.

Welcome, but that is not cool. Looking forward to see what others and Marcum say about this.

I know last year late ice they were all recalled, did you turn yours in? Is the one you own a refurbished one? Did a quick search and the recall was for a switch, not turning the auger off.

Rapala owns SM, Marcum is a separate company with a marketing agreement with Rapala/Ice Force.

They did a full recall on the lithium Lazers at the end of last winter. So send it back get a new one.

So send it back get a new one.

Do this, you’ll get a new auger and battery. They updated the batteries with better seals and button tolerances to boot.

I returned mine for full refund and bought an Ion! They don’t seem to have A Many problems. They may need a few years to get it right.

With Tony Roach last week his Lithium Lazer punched probably 40 holes in 18″ throughout the day on the same battery. Just keep the battery warm. I was skeptical, and walked away impressed especially after smashing my fingers on a recoil release 4x in 0 degrees previously.
