Anyone running the k-drill with a 40v head? I fish a lot of dirty ice that wrecks the shaver blades in a hurry. Anyone wreck a 40v by putting a k-drill on it?

Do yourself a favor and sell your K-Drill. Will never understand why people run them with the other available options on the market.

Chipper blades are such a waste

Did you even read his post? He is drilling in dirty ice.
I don’t see why it wouldn’t work but can’t say for sure.

You go ahead and drill Dirty Ice with the newer non chipper style blades – Just plan on replacing them rather often. They dull real fast with dirty ice. I own both. Clean clear ice – New style – Any dirty ice and the Kdrill gets used.

I believe that the K-drill and the Lite flight were designed to work best at slightly different RPM speeds. That said I see no reason why a K-drill would not work on a 40V power head.

    This is accurate…

Ive drilled hundreds of holes on the river with my kdrill and still goes strong. New strikemaster lazer blades would sometimes not cut by the third hole.

Guys with the k-drill, are you using the 7.5″ for a little easier drilling than the 8.5″?

Well, a K-Drill and the Lite Flight can both be used with a cordless drill at the RPMs of the drill. I dont know the torque specs of the 40V power head, I assume the K-Drill takes a bit more torque since it has chipper blades. I would say its work trying the K-Drill on the 40V power head, I expect you would find out fairly quickly how it would work, if it cuts good I would say you are good to go, if the 40V struggles, then I wouldnt continue with it

The 40V would have plenty of torque, more than a drill.

You’re not going to wreck anything.

My ONLY worry would be it not spinning fast enough for your liking??

    I still have a dinosaur of a K Drill.

It is perfect for river fishing where I’m punching holes in shallow sloughs with dirty ice or even bottoming out in the mud on occasion. I must be on year 7 or 8 with it and the chipper blades that have yet to need sharpening. It’s beat on and just keeps going.

I see no reason why it wouldn’t work on a 40V head.

I run that exact combo with the 7.5. Love it!
