Strikemaster 40V Purchasing Advice

Been running with a 6-inch hand auger for years and now that I think I’m going to take the plunge and get me a new Strikemaster, anyone have any recommendations on 8 vs. 10 inch? I had planned on 8-inch, but I see the 10-inch is only $20 more, wondering if anyone has any preference or applicable experience comparing the two.

Also, anyone know of any rebates or free items with purchase? I see there’s a rebate form online for last year where purchase of a power auger got you a free fleece shirt, just wondering if anyone has seen anything for this year.

    Thanks.

You will get less 10″ holes per battery, if you are use to a 6″ hole, you might fall in the 10″. I like a 10″ hole, but the 9″ and 8″ have their place.

Scheels extra battery for $50 with purchase.

I went with 8″ for the extra battery life, and I felt that I really didn’t need a 10″ hole about 95% of the time.

Check out Cabela’s online price with the EXTRA battery pack as part of the price. It is a very good buy for what you get. If you choose the 10″ you will run about 20-25% less holes than the 8. Either way 8 or 10 you will really like the machine. The cutting speed is almost identical between the 8 and the 10, i know this as we raced them many times at different ice thickness.

I got lucky during Cyber Monday and scored the 8″ Strikemaster 40v w/ extra battery for $430 out the door. Only used it once this season and it cuts like butter. Love it so far.

Scheels matched Gander’s $150 off sale plus I had a $50 gift card. Scheels threw in the extra battery for $50. $434.29 (price including tax) was all I paid.
