Curious if anyone has the poly bit on the 40V and if they think it’s worth it. I use mine for mostly drilling holes in the wheel house. Most times we run portables we take my buddies 24V. So I don’t run and gun with mine much anymore. Is just the weight savings the thing or is there other functional pluses?

I havent used one personally, but I have heard ice doesnt form on them like a steel bit. Maybe not a concern for you, but that is just relaying what I have heard from some buddies who have them.

Weight savings and ice build up.

That’s what I thought. I was sold on buying one last year when they weren’t available, but now I am questioning if it’s worth it for me.

If you’re shopping I’d go with a Pistol Bit or E40, mainly because the blades stay sharper for a longer amount of time, and nobody gives blades away these days $$

Other than that, they’re pretty much a wash

Put it on a drill and have best of both worlds.

I just picked one up for my 40v this season. Holding the bits in each hand you can definitely feel the difference. Had it out 3 times so far this year, it wasn’t shockingly different feeling on the ice weight wise tho to me. Did seem to cut a little smoother and not build up ice as much as my steel bit did. I got mine on sale otherwise not sure it’s worth it with how cheap the 24v’s are now.

If youre only using it in the house you probably don’t need to worry about saving weight or ice buildup. I wouldn’t waste the money unless that’s a non-issue
