Strikemaster 40V

I’m looking to make the change to electric, but fish mainly on or around the Missouri River in South Dakota where there is often a lot of sandy or dirty ice. For this reason, I’ve been using the chipper auger on my strikemaster gas. Has anyone tried the chipper bit on the 40v? It gets expensive fast burning through a couple sets of lazer blades a year.

Talked to guys at the show last time we had one and asked him the same question about running a chipper blade as I also own one and they said it does not come with one, nor was it tested with one, but did not say it would not work. Sorry probably not helpful but that’s what I got.

Since posting, I found an older thread from someone that contacted Strikemaster about this. At that time they were told it would void the warranty if a chipper was used since it wasn’t tested with one. So I guess stick with gas or look at the Jiffy electric or K-drill.

I think Strikemaster may have done some testing since then, because I see on Marine Generals website they even have a combo pack with the 40v lazer bit and chipper bit. If it wasn’t advised from Strikemaster I wouldn’t think MG would be selling the combo.

The local river we fish will wreck a set of new lazer blades within just a few holes. Drilled a 100 or more with K-Drill so far and hasnt slowed down a bit. Can you put that shaft on the 40v?

I switched my 40v lazer bit out for a 10″ chipper, its slower but works just fine. I have the same issue with dirty ice in ND.

I got the chipper bit for reopening the holes in my perm. Works fine. Just slower than the Laser. I’m starting to like this 40v more than my Nils. It is heavier than the Nils. But no smoke or warm-up needed is the biggest plus.
