Question– when you get 2 batteries with unit, is it ok save other battery, as in wear out 1 battery then use other years down road, or won’t 2nd battery last that long unused? Whats best way to use? Thanks

I got the setup last winter and only used one battery until this year i decided to unpackage the other battery and now will switch out between both to wear them down evenly

Yeah, according to the sites I visited it seems it doesn’t matter if they get used or not. Life cycle is still the same.

How is this auger? Looking for opinions from people that used it last season. I don’t ice fish a lot and was thinking this would be a good option.

The auger is fantastic. It’s hard to tell what’s what on sites like this because people are often getting paid to vouch for sponsored products.

I sold my 50v 2016 model on FB and upgraded a month ago. It was the best ice fishing related decision I’ve made. The old one was a great auger with a few flaws, like the battery that needed to be karate chopped into place because it stuck, and the flimsy plastic trigger that stuck out oddly and was just asking to be broken. The new one addressed these flaws and then some.

As far as batteries, I’m using my two at random. I hope that works out in the long run.

Hello everyone, I thought I would make a comment on this question. Rather than dive in to all the technical details on Lithium battery design. I will simply and respectfully say at the end of the fishing season fully charge your 40V battery pack and then store it away until next year in a room temp environment. Using this method will ensure many years of usage far beyond 3-5 years.
In regard to using two battery packs random, sure this will work great, but again at the end of the year fully charge and store them away. This method will ensure many years of use until the battery pack has reached it normal life expectancy.
    I hope this helps out.
