I have a Strikemaster 2hp (the red one) that stats easy and runs great in my driveway, but I brought it out to the lake yesterday and a few times it lost power halfway through a hole. It happened a few times and other times it worked perfectly.

    Any ideas?

the high speed mix screw needs to be adjusted, there are 2 screws the one closest to the intake and the piston is the low speed, tune that for good idle and transition when first hitting the throttle, then under load cutting a hole adjust the high speed screw, may take 2 people to do,but thats were i would start if everything else seems good

I had a similar problem. I found a crack in a plastic adapter for the hose that runs from the tank to the engine. It would run fine for a while and then stall after it sucked enough air into the crack. Took the engine model number and the old part to a local mower dealer that sells Briggs and Stratton and they were able to order the part. The new part was a bit of a pain to install.

JRD, thanks for the info, I wondered about that.

Is that the hex head screw that runs next to the throttle wire? It’s a long gold colored screw.

should be for a straight blade screwdriver, also there is a screw for the throttle stop, that is only for idle rpm

I’ve been getting calls about this, seems common in the new 4 strokes to have problems ducking air through their plastic adaptor…

Honestly, I would shoot SM an email. I had to bring mine in to L&M for a similar issue. It was ready to go before I could finish shopping. It cost me only a few bucks and they filled up my gas tank.

Ok, terrific info Kent! I may try to adjust it myself, but if I can’t, I will stop up there. They are not far from my house.
