Anyone try out their new Strikemaster 24v lite flite yet? I understand ice depths are at a minimum. How is torque, cutting speeds compared to drills? How does it feel in hand, ergonomics? Any wobble in gearbox? Any feedback appreciated.

Just recieved mine and got it all charged up and put together. Feels great in hand and extremely light. Haven’t cut ice with it yet but can’t wait.
I was able to try mine out this past weekend. I drilled approximately 50+ holes and I’m very happy with the performance of this auger. I was only able to test it in 5″-6″ of ice but it performed very well. I understand the true test will be later in the season as ice depths build. There was no wobble in the gear box and I really like the ergonomics of the unit. The battery charge status was still at 2 bars until the last set of holes I drilled at the end of the day.
I’ve been a K drill fan for years, but I really like this set up. I might have to hunt down a 6″ model for a designated panfish rig!
I was about to go the route of a drill and kdrill/pistol bit, but since I didnt have a heavy duty drill (cheap Ryobi) I had to buy a new drill. Well, I couldnt justify buying a $300 Dewalt when I would rarely use it other than for drilling holes, so I bought the 40 volt Strikemaster. I know its not the 24, but the fact it has a real handle and I can use my extensions from my solo was the meal ticket. Used it last weekend and if the 24 cuts anything like the 40 it will be a real winner. I bet a 6″ on that 24 will scream.

I run mine on the clam plate, one, I like having the full traditional handle, and two it makes it easier for my kids to use. They love punching holes for me, cant complain! I do have a few spare M18 drills laying around but by the time I buy another Kdrill 6″ bit, and clam plate, its almost worth just going for the 24V.

Yeah that clam plate is a slick. My 14 year old is the only one to use my new auger so far. LOL It was an impulse buy because he and his friend went fishing, but they couldnt get my solo to run. Gas lines were rotted pretty bad and I was fed up. So I replaced the lines and it runs like a top and Im selling it to his friend’s dad cheap since they only have a hand auger and are just getting into ice fishing.
Drilled my 1st few holes with it today. In about 3 to 4 inches of ice which it did a good job. Can’t wait to see how it handles a foot or more of ice.
Got mine delivered 3 days ago. Incredibly light – I’ll reserve judgement until we are at 10-14″. I got the 6″ vs the 8 as the 4ah battery doubles the holes (100 in 16″ vs 50 for the 8″) on paper. If I need to I can always drill a figure 8

I think you will be happy you made the decision you did.
If the set up with the 24 volt cuts anything like the the lite flite does with my dewalt drill you will all be happy. If you don’t have a use for the drill year round then I get it but otherwise I can’t imagine buying traditional auger unless you have the means to go that route.
Lite flite is by far the best purchase I have made in last two years of fishing Helix 7 year round mega SI is a close 2nd.
