Strike Master Lazer to Chipper

I have a older Lazer Mag T300 tecumseh 2 stroke with a Lazer bladed auger.

I have had trouble keeping blades sharp all season with the dirty ice we fish on so…………

I was thinking about getting a Chipper auger blade for a replacment.

Would a chipper blade work on this motor ?

Are there differences in the transmissions on a chipper auger and a lazer auger or do they use the same transmission ?

Any input on replacing the auger blade ?

    Thanks

You should just need to get the new chipper auger, can’t just switch blades.

I asked the same question when I looking at the Honda 4stroke. Was told that the 4 stroke wouldn’t be a great idea but any 2 stroke would fine to switch bits. With that said straight from strikemaster, you should be fine with getting a chipper bit.

Strikemaster claims all their auger bits are interchangeable With all motors they are built on. So with that said it should work.

If you do swap and want to sell your lazer bit I would be interested if it is a 7 or 8″.

I have both for mine but the Lazer never went back on. You’ll be happy with the switch. Come on speed freaks, tell him it going to take 1.7 seconds longer to drill a hole.

I had both for mine when I ran strikemaster. Worked just fine and blade stays much better in dirty ice conditions for sure.

A chipper is much slower than a lazer. For some reason I keep breaking lazer blades. 3 sets in 2 years. They are plenty tight and just had the pitch ‘okayed’ by a certified strikemaster parts dealer. Its a shame cuz that lazer bit melts ice. Replaced my old chipper blade and put that shaft back on. Significantly slower but doesn’t break… My auger bit must be cursed.

Does your chipper require much force pushing down to cut through the ice? I have the 8.25 mag 2000 but I feel like it really wears me out drilling a bunch of holes where the ice is 26″ plus. I have replaced the blade every other year, and right now I am on year two and I think it must be dull because I have to push down quite hard to get it to bite in and go through the ice. Also are you able to send in old blades and have them sharpened or are they trash? (They seem to be a 5-7mm shorter than the brand new ones in the box).

I’m just asking because I was thinking of getting the lazer blade and going the opposite route of the original poster in this thread.

The very act of pushing down too hard can actually bend the blade mounts slightly… as that angle changes the harder a guy pushes it down and the more it bends thus making it worse..
My Mag 2000 (8yrs old) need very little down pressure….yes it’s slow…but it cuts…even with my old blades..
There are a few places that sharpen chipper blades…do a quick Google……
    Hope this helps wave
