I was able to get out on the Mighty Cedar for a couple of hours this morning and a couple of hours last night to chase old marbleyes. The plan was to troll cranks, and walter didn’t disappoint. We’re targeting a little deeper water than usual lately, 8-12 FOW, on the rocks, if the baits weren’t cracking the bottom you weren’t getting bit. Trolling speeds were 1.4-1.6, as the flow is still going right along. I pulled a wide variety of cranks the past two days, and the only ones that got bit with any consistency were the JSR 5’s, firecraw and red craw were both good producers for my boat. I’m not seeing the low 20 inch fish that I had been recently, but numbers of eaters made up for that! Some nice smallmouths are also making their presence known recently, both casting and trolling cranks. One thing I noted is that the bite becomes nonexistent on these fish during the midday hours, all of our walleyes were caught early and late. I would expect these fish to continue to bite well as long as the water level stays stable, the clarity could be better, so look for things to improve as the water gets clearer, and go out and get ’em!!!!!!!
