Canoed the stretch of the Cannon that goes from Welch down to the 61 brige on Wednesday afternoon and did pretty darn good. MANY northern, lots of smallies(biggest being just under 19 inches), white bass, largemouth, and even – get this – 3 MOONEYES! 
Almost exclusively on Mepps spinners. I got them on a #3 with a silver blade and white hair, and my buddy found one with no hair and a brass blade to be hot. This was the first time we’d fished that stretch of the Cannon and it is completely different from the upper stretch. The water is WAY low and there are many logjams to navigate around. Nearly every pool held fish, especially where the slack water met the current. If you’re looking for a fun trip that will yield a variety of fish, try the Cannon sometime.
