Got out for about two hours on Monday night to troll cranks. We started out with a milk run spot as I have not been out in over a month to chase the ‘eyes. The areas that produced best for us were sand to rock transitions in 6-7 FOW, with a trolling speed of 1.3-1.5 MPH, this will pick up as the flow decreases in the coming weeks. One point of interest was that jointed raps outproduced straight raps significantly for our boat, with bright colors being the best, I’m trolling the jointed 5’s because they get down much more quickly on our short trolling runs, and the fish seem to prefer the more aggressive action of a jointed bait this time of year. We had a few eaters in our two hours and a 23″ that I’ll try to post a pic of (It’s on my phone so I’m not sure how it will come out) and one mid twenties that came unbuttoned behind the boat. Get out there if you can, as this bite will only improve in the next few weeks, look for natural colors to produce better as the water cleans up!
