I fished the cedar below the roller dam here in Cedar Rapids a couple times last week with the kids and the whitebass are running good. I didn’t bring my waders so i fished from shore for a bit and didn’t hook anything but the guys out in waders were getting nice fish in 3′ to 4′ of water. Some were in the 15″ or better range and getting quite a few. The females haven’t spawned yet but are close. A few nice walleyes are being caught too. A young fella with his grand dad caught a nice 4 pounder using jigs tipped with minnows. The bite is pretty fair right now. Five seasons bait and tackle in czechtown, 16th ave. s.w. area, is a good place to buy what you need, just ask John the owner and he’ll point you to what you’ll need.
