Seemed like a good lead in. I’m heading out to the BWCA thursday and will be gone for about a week. Sorry Jake I still haven’t asked where we’ll be starting at. I would like to ask what would be the best line to use for jigging and fishing for walleye? Any tips or suggestions.
And I was touring Iowa last weekend and started two more stores handling Super Bow spinners, Funcrest Sports in Iowa City, and Ozzies Outdoors in Decora.
    Thanks Everyone.

I use 6 or 8 lb TrileneXL for most applications. But I love Fireline for jiggin’, especially over deeper water. Also, you might land a few bonus pike with the Fireline that would normally be bite offs with mono. Vern

I agree-6lb test fireline is great for jigging. One note-if you go w/ a no stretch superline, just lift the rod tip dont set the hook too hard. Just a nice smooth sweeping hook set.

hey john, no hurry, i’ll be around when you find out .

as far as line, i’d definatly go with a braided line instead of mono. otherwise those darn toothy critters will drive you crazy .

a very good way to catch walleye in the BWCA is with a slip bobber/leech set up. just make sure the bait is close to the bottom and let it sit out there. it can be very productive way to catch all species of fish that are up there.

a good spot to look for walleye is just beneath any sort of river rapids. most of the lakes up there have rivers either running in or out of them. try anchoring below these and jigging below them . you can usually find fish this way.

that should at least give you a place to start. hope you have a good time on your trip and let us know how you do.

Thanks guys, I’ve used Fireline for years when casting spinners, but was wondering if the braided feature of this line was too visible and might spook fish when jigging.
