Went out today and fished the cedar for a bit, first cast I caught a fat 21′ eye and a few casts later I caught one that went 14′. Lost one decent fish but nothing else in the hour and a half i was out. Gonna try again tommorw with the weather being so nice!

Deep? Shallow? Morning? High Noon? Night? I’ve had very little luck shallow lately. Cedar is very clear here in W’loo Cedar Falls so I’m thinking they are laying in the deep water. I suppose the fish are where they are supposed to be now with the colder water temps. I know my dog doesn’t want to stand next to me in the water now so maybe the air temp is fooling the fisherman into fishing in the wrong places.

I was able to get out Monday and Tuesday, Monday was alot better than tuesday- caught my eyes in deep eddies or in pools behind sandbars. Jig and minnow, suprisingly caught them all around 1-3 pm. However, there was shade in a few of the areas so that could have helped. The water is ultra clear and it is nice to actually see your fish fight out in front of you! Also, gives ya a chance to see what it is on the end of your line, just in case you happen to loose it. Anyways, hope this helps, has anyone gotten out latley? Happy turkey day

I got out Saturday around 1:00. NEVER leave fish to find fish, but that’s what I did. Caught them off a sandbar near the channel on minnows. I swear I caught the same fish twice. A nice 17 incher and a smaller guy. I did get hits by a bridge piling, but didn’t get to see what it was so it had to be small right. Hope Saturday wasn’t the last nice day, but it could be. Now to find a winter home for the boat. Good luck guys.
