Went out tonight from about 7pm-10:15pm and brought one of my roommates along this time. For three hours we did pretty good. We each caught 3 fish, 4 eyes and 2 carp/suckers. Two of the walleye were less than around 10-12″, then my roommate got a keeper that went 15″ then i laid into a good 22″ fish. Pretty sweet to see the fish in the dark then come to the surface with her body lit up by light. All were caught on crawlers, we had a blast for the time we were out!

I was wondering if there would be a report today, Brad saw your truck in the lot when he left. Good job!

Waldo- Yep, i still have your number. How does tonight sound? I’ll give you a call this afternoon and see what your plans are like.

Briank can have all the suckers we catch! I also forgot to mention the big walleye went back in to swim another day!

That’s a beauty. Very healthy looking fish. Way to go

I’ve been trying the iowa river a little bit and may get a boat on it tonight. what kind of areas are you getting walleyes in guys? i’ve been fishing deeper holes and getting sheep heads. medium depths with nice eddies are the only place i’m getting any eyes.

    Thanks,

    Andy,
I’ve noticed the fish I’m catching seem to be relating directly to flow levels, I’ve been fishing the breaks and seams in heavy current, medium depths 5-7 FOW. Seems like we’ve struck out every time me slow down to fish bait in a deep hole out of the current.

thanks little B. i’ll have to give it another shot tonight in my back yard. i’ve got a riffle, then a transitiion with some subtle breaks along the riprap and then it deepens into a big hole behind my house. we’ll probably just start at the top and work the whole thing. thanks again for the info!

oh yeah, are crawlers what’s working for you?

    Andy,
I’m fan casting/trolling cranks, basically as a locator, then working slowly w/ crawlers, mostly dork rigging. THe cranks, however, have been a better producer for me of late, especially on fish over 20″.

Little b, thanks for the info again. we got into a pile of nice eyes on the iowa tonight in the exact same conditions you told me. below a big riffle in the channel in 6fow pitching jigs to the break. I could see my house from where we were anchored… man am i pumped. mostly 15 inchers, but my buddy lost one at the boat over 5. damn. can’t wait to try it again. You’re the man!

oh yeah, crawlers were good, but they really whacked the bft paddle tail in catalpa. they really hit plastic so much harder. gulp crawlers also took a few fish.
