    smtroutchaser i live in owatonna, and a know a guy named john he lives right by the dam, he has a dock on the river. He did allot of research on it but it was a waste because the city shut him down and are taking it out

    Yeah, I know the story. I think the decision was made before the public even knew about it. Even though you did not get the chance to vote on the dam removal, remember that all civic matters come back to an elected official. You do vote for him! Seek these folks out and make your feelings known.
    I think what gulls me, is that the few folks I have talked with who say that they are in favor of removing the dam in order to inprove fishing, have hardly spent any time, if any, fishing this river, and after the removal, they still won’t fish it. So how will they know if they inproved it or not.
    In the future we may not be able to enjoy the Straight River as the fishery we had, but we can always use it as an example.
