The upper stretches are hard to beat as far as scenery goes but….for fishing the section below the lower dam area is hard to beat. Smallies, Walleyes, and White Bass seem to move all the way up from the Mississippi to that spot which is a natural congregation area for them in the spring. Then, throughout the summer, they seem to spread out downstream to their habitat of liking.
Besides, I like to stand at the hill overlooking the lower dam area and ask myself, “how in the world did they get a dam built in that spot????” Pretty amazing if you haven’t seen it.
