My dad and I went down to a slack water hole this evening. Well my first two cast were found with walleyes at the end, first two cast on my new reel thats the way to break it in . All in all we got 3 eyes and a couple missed fish for 40 mins of fishing(my dad got cold and wanted to go,I think being skunked helped ).
The water color was a little stained but very good, water level has returned to normal and stablized. The wind was Kicking and cold. Best color was 4″purple/white tail ringworm on an 1/8 head.

Has most of the ice in the Cedar up in Waterloo cleared? A couple of us fished the Wapsi this morning over near Central City and could’nt make it happen. There’s still lots of ice above some of the dams on the Wapsi, so the water is still wicked cold; leading us to think maybe that was part of the reason we came home skunked. There were several other guys also fishing that stretch of the Wapsi, they too were skunked.

    Regards,

    Joe

Ya all the ice is cleared around the Waterloo area. Was up to Nashua a couple days ago and there was ice above the dam there. Coming home skunked, I’ve had enough of those days . Should turn on very soon, the males are full of milk, and the days are growing longer. Good Fishing to ya, thanks for the report was thinking of heading to Independence but thought there might be some ice left there.
The last week in February there are usally some nice fish caught on the Cedar just not the numbers.
