Walleye bite was fair this morning. Using a chartruese jighead with a chartruese twister tail I managed to land a few average walleye. Nothing spectacular but lots of fun.

I assume that you’re fishing the dam? I’ll be home for the holiday and plan to run down there to try it if I get a chance. Do you need to wade or can you fish it effectively from shore? I haven’t been there in quite a while, but I hear that Nashua has been pretty decent lately.

Too bad there’s no shoot-and-release hunting. Otherwise I’d be out chasing pheasants.

I like to fish on the north side of the dam right on the cement ledge. I’ve tried wading to other holes by the bridge but don’t have as much luck. I like to throw straight out and slowly drag my jig back along the bottom rather than normal jigging. I seem to feel the fish better but whatever works best for you. I’m not reel familiar with the Nashua area except for the dam. Is there good walleye fishin above the dam or farther down stream? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Good luck and Happy Holiday’s.

I haven’t fished below Nashua for a long time. I think all the interior rivers are much better than they used to be since the DNR has been stocking them for awhile now. I know there’s a deep hole down by a quarrying operation, but other than that I couldn’t tell you much until you get below Waverly. There’s fish being taken from all the deeper holes from Waverly down south of Waterloo so I hope the ice doesn’t come until January. Looks like Friday might be nice enough to get out and try below the dam.
