Streaming Fox Sports North

What ways have you guys found to stream FSN affordably? I used to get it through Sling TV, but it’s been discontinued there.

I see Hulu Live has it but it’s quite a bit more per month than my Sling Subscription and from what I see Hulu Live doesn’t come with some of the other outdoor programming I like (Sportsmans channel, etc.).

I use Hulu but I’ve heard YouTube-TV is good too.

I use to have Hulu live but switched to YouTube tv when Hulu raised there prices.

I like YouTube tv better but Hulu live has a lot more movies if that’s something your into.

Thanks for the suggestions. I was hoping for better news. I believe I pay $35 a month for Sling which includes the Heartland add on which includes a couple other outdoor channels I sometimes watch.

Looks like Youtube TV is $15 a month more than that and doesn’t include any of the other outdoor programming.

I know more shows post their content to Youtube now and I’m glad that IDO does or I’d be sad. I do miss watching Musky Hunter TV though and a few other weekend fishing shows that were on FSN in the winter.

Need to decide which direction to go. Slightly frustrating as it seemed like cutting the cord was most definately the way to go a few years ago. Now that it’s getting popular I think more of these streaming services are raising the prices and approaching what a basic dish or cable package would have cost.

    1st world problems, I know.

Find a friend or family member already paying for a cable subscription and kick them a few bucks a month to borrow their login credentials.

Direct TV Now isn’t bad. I currently have Direct TV and I’ve looked into Direct TV Now. If I was going to “cut the cord” (which I am not), this is the route I’d select.

I either watch or record Musky Hunter, Midwest Outdoors, and Angling Edge just about every Saturday morning. In April Angling Buzz will resume which I really enjoy.

DirecTv Now is no longer it is AT&T TV Now. I’ve had it from the ground floor of DirecTv Now and got a super deal on a package that was over 100 channels and included FS North FS Wisconsin and numerous outdoor channels and all the numerous channels that broadcast hockey playoffs.

The app can be annoying at times with buffering and freeze ups. but I’m not sure switching to any other app streaming service is going to prove to be any better. If it’s really bad during a Wild game I can switch to the Fox Sports Go app and sometimes that is better. It’s not my isp because I can stream Amazon all day without a problem. So I’m hoping AT&T is trying to improve on their app. I can also stream anything I watch at home on my phone. I can mirror my phone to a tv through a hdmi cable which makes it nice in the fish house for watching hockey games. Now if i could just get enough signal up on Red to be able to stream!

I looked it up, sounds interesting.

Is it easy to navigate? Any way to record/DVR stuff?

Interesting. No idea what Cubby’s really is. Their site is basic and just calls out that they have 4,000 channels. 4,000… holy cow.

I’m not even sure how to navigate 4,000 channels but I’m tempted to give it a shot.

Uhhh, no unauthorized charges to your card from Timbucktwo or anything since signing up to Cubby’s?

Cubby’s sounds like the Kodi box. Terribly difficult to navigate and very poor streaming. My son tried the Kodi box because they advertised thousands of channels and movies for free just buy the box. Trying to get a specific program or sport event to come in was like trying to launch the Space Shuttle. for instance they might have six streams of the Twins, Vikings or Wild game available to view. First you have to start a half hour before the game to find the available streams. Then spend the entire game switching between streams back and forth because you’d watch one for 10 minutes and it would go black or get choppy or freeze. Then switch to the next one and the next one and the next one to find one that would hopefully stream a decent picture for a half hour or so before you’d start the process over.

He dumped it in the corner of the back closet a couple days later.

I also tried the kodi fire stick. Also known as jail breaking a fire stick. There’s lots of videos on YouTube on how to do it.

I also had very poor performance and picture view with it and was extremely difficult to navigate and wasn’t worth it to me.

HuluTV has been great for me – good selection of channels and a fair amount of recording room on the cloud DVR.

It might be more than Sling, but if Sling doesn’t offer FS-North…it’s still way cheaper than what cable or satellite used to cost. I pay 2/3 for my current services of Internet/HuluTV/Netflix than what I used to pay for Internet/Phone/TV with waaaaaay better content. (I also have Amazon but consider it a “free” streaming since it more than pays for itself in free shipping every year.) If for some reason we absolutely had to cut back, I’d go with Internet and HuluTV only for the outdoor shows and live sports.

Good suggestion, I was in the same boat as you few months back. I don’t watch enough tv to justify 50-70 a month on it, so sling was perfect. Wife got her channels and I got fsn.

Now we split youtube TV 5 ways and I love it. I pay 10 a month. Only 3 users can watch at once but most of the friends we split with have a ton of diff streaming services so it has never been an issue.

Youtube TV has way more sports than Sling as well.

I would suggest splitting that as some people have also suggested. Its not like a hush hush thing either where you can do it but shouldn’t. Google encourages it. You’ll need a gmail/google account but then they let you make a “family” up to 6 and this is everyone who gets access to youtube tv.

Sharing Youtube TV is not password sharing. There are separate google accounts (up to 6) that google allows access to one Youtube TV account. Like I said:

Google/Youtube TV is not mentioned in that article at all.

One way to think of things currently is that it’s getting everyone familiar and addicted to streaming content on their platform. Ie., the current permissiveness is an up-front investment with long-term payoffs once people are on board. As the market shifts (Netflix, Disney+, etc.) and competition for dollars increases, I’d expect that YouTube TV will move as well. Producing all of this high-quality content isn’t free, and they aren’t going to leave money on the table. Enjoy it while you can…

I stream and cast any game on the planet off Reddit. Been paying $60 for internet about 5 years now. I typically watch only sports, any outdoor shows are already on YouTube. Got the Netflix just to keep wife happy. I can’t believe people still pay for cable these days?? Might add antenna this year just for a touch of local?

Well cross Youtube TV off the list, in two days they will no longer be streaming FSN. Sounds like Sinclair is being kinda a B to these streaming TV companys.

Right now Hulu live is looking like the best option to get FSN…

Here is the email I just got

    “Hi there,
Our goal with YouTube TV is to offer you the content you love, delivered the way you want.
To make this happen, we need to enter into deals with our partners. Unfortunately, we have been unable to reach an agreement with Sinclair to continue to carry the FOX Regional Sports Networks and YES Network.
Starting February 29, 2020, you will no longer be able to watch live, on demand, or recorded content from your local FOX Regional Sports Network or YES Network.
Please know that we do not take this decision lightly. We value your membership and will continue to strive to build the best streaming experience possible.
    Sincerely,
    The YouTube TV team”

If you don’t have internet at your cabin, Direct Tv is pretty much the only way to get TV there that I know of. That’s why some of us are sticking with direct tv at home also. Only $10 for the box at the cabin and $10 for the lake place and I have all 3 places covered.

The charge comes from paypal every month $10
I had an issues logging in and it took a bit to fix but it was leas then 24 hours other then that I have been able to watch ufc ppv on the lake via hotspot and streaming has been just fine. I watched a few movies the other night no issues.
Its nothing like kodi in my opinion plus it rocks during football season.

No kidding. That sounds almost exactly like the email I got from Sling when they cancelled FSN. Bummer, I wonder what the deal is with them.

Do the sports team run the risk of losing a segment of the fan base with all these broadcast rights negotiations resulting in services picking them up and then dropping them constantly?

Eventually people are going to get tired of chasing them around and paying premium $ to watch them? Like the MLB not allowing the radio broadcast to be streamed from the local radio stations web site. That pretty much killed listening to the Twins broadcast for me last summer up at the lake as I couldn’t get the radio broadcast and I couldn’t stream it on my phone unless I paid MLB the $$. Screw em I said.

I just popped open the MLB free app every hour to check on the score and found out I was just fine with that.
