It’s a toss up between catching a Muskrat on a topwater fly and my 8 weight fly rod, or the time I pulled up an AC-Delco car radio from 12 feet of water.

October 6, 2019 at 2:31 pm #1883056When I was a 13 YO kid living on the river, I caught a collapsible wire fish basket chock full of live white bass and walleye right off the dock, in the current on 8lb mono.
Also “caught” my sister one time with a daredevle right in her nose when she came up behind me when I didn’t realize she was there. Lots of blood in the nose!

It swooped down and grabbed an X-rap.
I was fishing with Mark Bruzek that day.
Had an osprey grab a salmon this summer too, had it on for 15 seconds before it let go. The fish had talon holes lol

Was that bird a catch, photo and release? Or did it go into the crock pot?

Had a clanging inside it, thought for sure I was about to pay off the truck loan with a big ol diamond ring that was cast out by some POd wife back when.
Didn’t even open it for a day or two, when I did, turned out to be some stupid time capsule. Chunks of different types of metal with a riddle of sorts written on paper. Total buzzkill.
sjiPosts: 421October 6, 2019 at 7:52 pm #1883112My line and #5 Shad Rap I lost a week before on a snag, lure was snagged on a rope. On the end of the rope was a anchor.
October 6, 2019 at 8:11 pm #1883115Caught @tangler reef runner he lost on P2 and it had a sheepie attached to it. The shad rap I snagged it with had a walleye I had hooked. Best double ever and I kept his reef runner.
Also caught a pelican down in Florida. They are very large, very mean, and very strong. He was released unharmed but it took 3 of us.

October 7, 2019 at 1:39 am #1883135On pool 2 I caught a condom on a jointed shad.
DTAt least it wasn’t a Jerk Shad!

Ummm just curious did you happen to travel up stream to investigate where it may have came from…?

The Muskrat sounds like the more exciting one
October 7, 2019 at 1:45 am #1883138B-man that is one thing I am SOOOO glad that I have not caught a flying rat yet!

That still sounds interesting
October 7, 2019 at 1:49 am #1883140SJI getting your stuff back is good but a free anchor is a big plus!

@deertracker, was it yours? At least you were being safe!October 7, 2019 at 8:21 am #1883157A bicycle, several poles with reels (most unusable), an anchor, 2 gulls, one snagged while in flight and the other hit my surface bait and took off. I played it in flight for a few seconds until it fortunately got off. An American eel, a tip up with a live carp attached in open water. The skin from a filleted walleye. Some type of catfish or sturgeon rig with at least a pound of lead and a long elastic line leading to a large hook.

I was excited for a while, however the Muskrat didn’t seem to enjoy it much. I was using a barbless hook and managed to get him free without losing any fingers. Then the ‘rat popped up about 10 feet from the boat and started yelling at me. A lot. He wouldn’t leave so I finally did, after apologizing profusely.

October 7, 2019 at 1:03 pm #1883254I am actually most intrigued by this one…?
“a tip up with a live carp attached in open water.”
What time of year and what kind of tip up?
Red EyePosts: 943October 7, 2019 at 1:04 pm #1883255Buddy caught a screen door gas spring attached to a 8’ wire just out from Ceder Creek landing on Mille Lacs. Thought it might have been a weight from spring netting.
October 7, 2019 at 1:05 pm #1883256You know that thing was slinging profanity your way left and right! At least you apologized!

It was in the Spring. I snagged the line and first pulled up the tip up and then the carp after that. I was around 3#. The tip up looks like a Frabill Blackhawk Assault Tip Up.
October 8, 2019 at 7:45 am #1883408Caught a weed whipper once. Must have been freshly stolen and thrown in the river cause it still worked.
