Man sorry to hear that. I will keep a eye peeled. I’m putting a permanent on Red next year. Think I’ll invest a GPS tracker to leave in it.

Did you leave it out overnight?
Did it have all the appropriate ID info listed on the outside of it required by the MN DNR?

I’ve heard they will come and pluck those off and confiscate them if not.
Have you contacted the DNR and the local Sheriff’s dept to see if one of them grabbed it?

Tracking devices are pretty cheap now days. Everyone should put them on there houses.
Best of luck with finding your house.

Makes me want to check into one of these tracking devices too.
Hope you find it and in the condition it was in when you had it last.
    Good luck

Any initial info on acquiring a gps locator? Brand, model and where to buy? I keep my ATV in my fishhouse and would put a second one on it. Sorry for your stolen house.

Not having a wheel house (other then homemade), is it hard to remove one tire? Would that be the easiest if it’s a 6.5’ house?

    Just curious…

I made mine and had a removable tongue. I left it all over the state all winter for years without a problem.

Not hard at all…..but I bet 90% of wheelhouses have the same bolt pattern.

All a crook has to do is steal a tire first…..and put it on your shack.

My shack has a removable tongue, I don’t know what else a guy could do…..

If your shack isn’t secured inside a garage, there’s always a chance of it growing legs.

The GPS tracking idea is cute, but $20-25 a month in fees buys a ton of insurance…….The ROI wouldn’t be cost effective unless it gave you a huge insurance break.

Yeah, well my ROI would be being able to track down the mf’er who stole it.

From a guy that has had stuff stolen on more than one occasion, I hear you loud and clear buddy evil

My wife’s purse was stolen a couple weeks ago…..The only relevant thing in it was our check book (she had her debit/id/etc on her in her wallet).

I wish I could choke the f-er out that stole it…..

But the cops have a decent lead if they care to go after it. The thief wrote out and cashed a check (which was cancelled) to a specific person for $1,500.

A little pressure on that person could maybe get somewhere???

For what she told me that purse was worth we probably should have had a GPS tracking device sewn in it ……. (frown)

One of the first things I did was put a GPS tracker in mine. Living SE WI, I have had a skid house stolen, so when I got the wheelhouse, that was priority. I had it installed by a local car security place. It runs off the batteries at which are charged by the solar charger. I think the service is like $10 a month.

I think the lesson to be learned here is that if you leave a fish house out on the ice unattended, you understand that there is a possibility that something bad could happen to it ranging from it getting stuck, damaged, or at worst, completely stolen. People leave their boats out unattended in the summer on docks and I’m sure they get damaged, tank on water, or stolen sometimes too. I hope there’s a resolution to this specific incident Dave.

I think most of the time the greatest risk is break ins. People looking for anything and everything they can sell for a couple $ to feed a habit or they are just young and dumb kids. You just hope they don’t trash the entire thing when they get inside.

I think it’s a very low percentage that get’s outright stolen. Removable hitch is probably the best deterrent. I’ve wondered about having a sign made that states this house is GPS monitored and equipped with night vision cameras. If you are reading this your’e picture has already been taken and sent to my phone. Might work.

Hope you get it back in good shape Dave or at least get something back from your insurance company.

So disconect the battery and the tracker is useless ?

It has it’s own lithium battery. I can leave everything off and it runs on it’s own internal battery.

I wonder if anyone ever gets a stolen house back, they all look pretty much the same. Each brand only has a few trim/decal packages. You could have a stolen one right out your door and not know it.
