When he signed the work order that should have released the boat to them. BPS should be blasted to the ends of the earth if the story is accurate.

For sure, and like said, there should be CCTV footage of the act. Smaller to mid-size businesses don’t all have cameras covering their whole premises, but lots do. And big bigger outfits like BPS should and will usually. Whether they can’t identify a perp from the footage or it was an inside job or slip-up, they definitely have some explaining to do if what I just read is complete and accurate.
I worked as a tech at that very location, and yes, there are cameras everywhere, and I am sure they have been kept in working condition as there is way too much to lose if they are not.
My service manager from when I worked there is still the service manager and I seriously doubt that the customer was treated the way he is claiming he got treated.
Like they say, there are always two sides to every story, lets see how this plays out before we start judging, if Bass Pro is at fault I am sure it will be resolved.
…if the story is accurate.
That’s the key right there.
So excuse me for asking questions like why would a perp go to Bass Pro to steal a boat and their pick of the litter is an old jon boat with a a bad camo paint job and questionable trailer wiring?
I’m guessing there’s a reason BPS and the police are maintaining radio silence on this one.
How did they get professional quality video with perfect sound of the boat being pulled out of the driveway? How did he only have it for a month but has childhood memories from it? Why would the first thing the sales manager say to him “we don’t have your boat” wouldn’t there be at least ‘some’ conversation beforehand?
To me it seems there must be more to the story.
Munchy I agree, how did the news station get the high quality video of the boat leaving the driveway? Before it went missing? Very strange.

Read the article?
Chamblee got the boat from his grandfather in April and brought it back to Iowa.

I watched/listened to the news story that was in the posting, it mentioned nothing of getting it in April. Normally the video and text are exactly the same so I didn’t bother reading it as well….
BTW, that news reporter has a terrible lisp… (for a reporter)
Anyway, still wondering how they got the great video of it leaving the driveway….?

Im sure that was provided by the owner obviously.

Typically they will reference the person who filmed it if it’s not by their onstaff camera person. But anyway, it’s just an odd story that has a few odd circumstances in it, especially surrounding the reporting.
If this is true BPS sucks. Oh wait a minute…BPS has sucked for a long time! They’d be at the very bottom on the list of places to bring my boat. Tough lesson for this boat owner.
Cabelas was going downhill and the BPS purchase finished the destruction of a once great company. They just bought Mack’s prairie wings and I have no doubt BPS will ruin everything that made that store great.

It was pretty obvious to me from watching the video this was from the owner. I don’t watch news anymore and I can’t remember the last time I remember them giving credit to a private party unless it was for storm photos etc when I did.
“Air tag”
WTF? Who doesn’t use these?
What Are they like a buck a piece?

I have never used one, and lately I have been asking my self why I don’t use them.

$25 each on Amazon, or as low as $20 if you buy a 4 pack. Definitely recommend them, however phones may or may not alert the thief that an “unknown airtag” is following them after a period of time. Then all they have to do is turn the chime on to find it. I have a few in my work trailer wrapped in foam rubber and electrical tape, can barely hear the chime unless it’s dead silent.
There’s something about this that doesn’t pass the smell test. And I do not like bps. Nor a huge fan of their owner.
