Be careful on the ice in the river and harbor. I ventured out today to an area that i had checked a few days ago and conditions have completly changed. I had 6 inches in some spots and 2.5 to 3 in others. There are alot of fresh cracks and some have open whater in them that are recent. Ice chuncks have piled up on eachother creating some potentially dangerous ice.
With the next storm coming in soon, currents, tides and other factors will change and with the snow cover you wil not be able to see weak spots/cracks etc. Just take extra caution as always and especially the next few weeks. The ships are still on a regualr basis and they and the USCG do what they need to do and dont care about the ice one bit. And please do not drive out for a long time, as last year we saw a small car go thru in the same area that pickups and suv’s were, and this was in January, with current you never know where the weak spots are. Have fun and be safe!
