Paper check or does she still have open bank accounts for direct deposit? Probably still on the voting rolls as well might want to look into getting her scrubbed from as much as possible to at least try to hamper the identity thieves.

Martin I’m in the same boat. They withdrew money from our account for our 2018 taxes on Tuesday. I also get social security direct deposit. I still had to go to the site I linked above and reenter the same bank info they already had and just used to withdraw money on Tuesday. I still have not received anything.

Maybe I’m missing something here, but is all the bank info exactly the same?

The bank info I enter for an electronic withdrawal (acct/routing #) is the same as on my paper checks.

The info I provide for an electronic deposit I take from my deposit slips. My personal account number is the same, but I see that the routing # is different.

Are any of you noticing this?

I’m guessing the system is set up like a one way street, one path for incoming and another for outgoing.

Also, I might guess that SS payments originate from a different payment system and may not be easily retrieved or merged with the system for IRS refunds/payments.

Exactly. Unless you had direct deposit information on your 2019 return, because you were getting a refund, you NEED to go to Where’s my Payment and enter your bank information, or just wait until they send you a check.

Just because you PAY electronically does not mean they have your information to send you a refund.

Many of you may be too young to remember mailing-in your tax returns. There was 1 address to use if you owed , a different address to use if you were getting a refund.

Banks often utilize different routing numbers for different payment methods (i.e. checks, wires, ACHs, etc). When providing direct deposit info to a third party, if you are unsure you should confirm with your bank whether or not the routing number on your checks or deposit slips can be used for electronic transfers. Every bank is a little different.

This could certainly be. What I was pointing out to the other’s was that the routing # is different for electronic payments (paying taxes in) and getting electronic deposits (tax refunds/stimulus payments) back in to your account.

I had a tax refund last year and therefore they had my direct deposit routing/acct #.

My stimulus payment was in my account yesterday when I checked.

My wife was actually in tears when we left his office and cried all the way home. The reality of what they were going to take both federal and state devastated her.

Indeed, you spend 40 years building a business only to have the government take 42 percent if you sell.

I always find it fascinating that our all powerful capitalist, richest country in the world, free market, American dream society has to bailed out by some good ole fashioned social assistance every 10 years or so

in many instances you are right (2008), but in this instance the gvt is the one disabling the economy so redistributing our own tax money is not some crazy socialist agenda

Wait………I have always been told that those darn illegals don’t pay taxes? So they wouldn’t have ss numbers, so they wouldn’t get stimulus. Well color me confused!

This is bound to get political. Lets let California deal with their own crap and keep this thread on track.

I assume that the feds will be cutting a big check to bail out the state of California sooner or later.

California is ranked 11th in least dependent states on the feds. Until recently was one of only a few states that pay the federal government more than they receive. If California were a country it would be the world’s 5th largest economy

If you don’t mind, could you list the 10 lessor dependent states on the feds? And also which of the worlds economies are greater than Cali?

I know I could just “google” it myself but I have so many other threads I “need” to respond to.

Add this to my workload of responding to all the other social media “flimflam”…you know what that means?

My responsibilities? Or the definition of “flimflam”?

We are slightly above the threshold but did get money for both of our kids; deposited last Wednesday. Most of my neighbors got it that same day too; this is in Nebraska.

Up till now we haven’t been able to get into the my payment page, “unavailable” or whatever it is. This morning it now worked for us.

They are doing website maintenance next couple nights on it so maybe updating the lists? Not sure, but those who haven’t been able to log on yet I’d urge to try again.

I would not trust that. Go to the IRS website mentioned and fill in the info. It will tell you the status of your payment. If it says that they need banking info, then I would do that. I have SS direct deposit and this was what I was confronted with. Did it >2 weeks ago, still waiting for payment though. Be prepared to wait.

I entered the direct deposit information the day that system went online. From that point forward, the “Get My Payment” tool has simply said some generic statement about being eligible for a payment, but date of payment unavailable.

We don’t need the stimulus check and it’s just going to get dropped into our daughter’s 429. However, if we did actually need it or wanted to use it as intended to help the local economy… we’d be bankrupt and the local businesses tanked based on this timeline. I’m still anticipating having to chase this payment down well into the Fall if I want it.

Printing millions of additional checks, that takes time. Just be thankful the government is willing to send a check. It’s doubtful (although I don’t know) that China, South Korea, Russia, Italy and others are mailing any checks.

People can do what they want with their money, but a “stimulus” doesn’t do much when it sits in a retirement account or something.

I recommend finding a good local business/es and spend to stimulate our economy as much you can.

Beads people that don’t need it will save / invest it. They still are going to spend money for food, travel, home improvement. The other group that needs it will be spending it to live hopefully.

There is no way to separate the checks for lower & middle class.

    A.

people that don’t need it will save / invest it.

    B.

going to spend money for food, travel, home

I’m just saying if they really want to help the big picture, do B. more than A.
