I am taking a friend from out of state (California) Pike fishing. He has never caught one. What would be a good lake within 45 min of Stillwater. I’m thinking of Forest Lake or Big Marine. I don’t target northerns so I don’t know what the best lake would be.

    Thanks in advance!

Lots of small ones in Big Marine, used to be a lot of small ones with a chance at a chuncky one on White Bear Lake probably still true have not been out there much. If all you want is a bigger one (I should really PM this) check out Bone or Big Carnelian-Good Luck!

Big Marine or Carnelian for numbers. The River or Lake Elmo for size.

Elmo is the most overfished lake in the Metro IMHO-per acre ‘Tonka gets less pressure. The deep water though is probably good in Elmo for bigguns.

Can catch smaller ones all day long on white bear/carnelian just casting spinner baits over/along weeds. Or trolling weedlines.
