Hi, I own a stihl chain saw that has all of a sudden when starting jumps straight into high reving and then die on me.
I’ve put a new carbi in and still does the same thing. Muffler is fine. I put new fuel lines and a new tank fuel filter in.
Idler screw is set properly. Linkages to trigger and choke normal. The saw has good compression and I’m at a loss as to what is causing this to happen. Help.

It’s either a crank seal letting air into the crankcase, or a torn or leaking carb boot. I’d lean towards crank seal.
