    Should there be any play in the wheel before the motor starts to turn?

    There is normally a very small amount of play.

    I replaced the steering in my boat with an anti-feedback and there is no play. Some boats I have been on had a very small amount of play. How much play are you feeling?

    Cable system. On the outer rim of the wheel I can move it about 1 inch , one way to the other , before motor movement.
