Tom, I apologize for posting covid related things on the board discussing the covid stay at home order. I also apologize for forcing you to click on the topic that is clearly labeled “stay at home order.” Seems like a weird place to go to look for fishing reports. Might I suggest clicking on the topics that aren’t related to covid if you don’t want to read things about covid? I guess I also apologize for being new here
Tom SawvellInactivePosts: 9559May 16, 2020 at 11:36 am #1942814I suggest you post topics that are suggested to be posted. Covid was dissed a long time ago. If you want to yack up covid, I might suggest you go somewhere that the crap is welcomed. It was made public here that covid topics were to stop. I give a crap if you started this one or not, but in 30 some odd posts all you’ve done is perpetuate it. I’d bet if a poll was taken whether people here thought this issue had been followed enough the result would be an outstand YES.

Excellent response. Have the “regulars” on this site checked the number of posts of the people who wrote something negative on this thread but it happened to agree with the regulars opinion. I am a new poster too. Remember always be mean to the new kid in class, and dont welcome the new people to the neighborhood.

Again, I would suggest not clicking on the posts that are covid related. I have not tried to steer non-covid topics towards covid. You choose to click on covid topics then get mad when they are full of covid related posts. I feel like maybe you just disagree with me, which is fine. Singling me out to tell me to be quiet says a lot more about you than it does about me. A free exchange of ideas as long as everyone agrees with me, america!
May 16, 2020 at 1:10 pm #1942831Well when the new kid comes in hot going after the OGs, what do you expect?

Not true, while it may feel like it.
Lets look at your posts, they are all over the forums. Yes some are in this thread, but the majority are not. You are trying to help and answer questions and helping members That was what this site was built on.
Now go and take a look at Fish to Escape, the majority are in this thread. He managed to make his point on how he feels about covid and that is great, but the last number of posts are just not worth the bandwith they are taking up.
We can agree to disagree and I for one will move on, keep reading, nod or shake my head depending on how I feel. But I will say for one thing for sure, lumping the regular members into a group who dislikes newbies is completely BS.
RonTom SawvellInactivePosts: 9559May 16, 2020 at 1:34 pm #1942833How is this thread still going?
This is my point. It should be nixed. Its far removed from the stay at home order and nothing now but bickering between a few of the regulars who normally won’t get too verbal and this new guy who just won’t let the subject go to bed. Nothing new is being offered. Ersae it.
Better yet, open a covid forum and put the arguments in there.
Fish To EscapePosts: 333May 16, 2020 at 1:40 pm #1942834You sure read it a lot. I feel like there is a simple solution to your problem.
Again, I’m sorry for posting covid things on the covid posts. I didn’t know I had to have the correct ratio of non-covid to covid posts. There are 6 pages of comments but mine were the worst I guess. Maybe this website needs to be designated as a safe space

RonThanks sliderfishing. I admit i could have written it better. I did not mean to imply that all regulars dont welcome new members. My assumption, and it is only an assumption, that some regulars feel the need to check the number of posts of those who they dont agree with, and (assumption) dont check the number of posts of of those they agree with even though the post is of a negative it mean spirited nature. That just doesnt sit well with me if it is true.

One reason, IMO, that members check the number of posts of any member is to see how that member is interacting with the forums. Some come here as a lurker, some looking for answers but never help others, some come to learn as well as help others.
For me, if your the later I will help that member in any way possible, even going as far as borrowing equipment, giving waypoints and even sending handpoured jigs or baits that I make. The other two, I will answer their questions unless someone else has but that is about the extent of it.
I am done with this thread, if you want to continue our chat, send me a private message by clicking on my name and type away.
FYI, the PM system shares more info in a week than most fishing magazines and tv shows all year.Ron
May 16, 2020 at 6:04 pm #1942867While I enjoy reading the opinions of others here, and may or may not agree with that opinion I respect those opinions. Im not sure why the powers to be don’t want these types of threads but do be it
As far as Tom, he brings more information, knowledge, and insite than alot of members combined. And I’ve also been a reciepant several times of his handy work. I agree with him, why so many of these threads, keep it in one or maybe a general non outdoors section. :?::?:
May 17, 2020 at 10:30 am #1942956Again, I’m sorry
Why do you keep saying that when you are obviously not sorry? I think the last thing you are is sorry. Carry on…
May 17, 2020 at 11:14 am #1942959Hey joe is angling buzz cancelled this season? It’s usually on air by now with your weekly field reports.

You caught me. It was sarcasm. Sorry about that
basseyesPosts: 2551May 17, 2020 at 12:02 pm #1942983Feel as a society most have become experts on everything on both sides of any discussion. Combined with a very narcissistic mind set, it almost becomes futile to discuss anything, with anyone that has their heels dug and locked in. Especially if they believe their side of the political aisle and media that represents their agenda can do no wrong.
Don’t know anything about covid from a scientific level of expertise. Can read, watch videos online and watch the news. When you watch and try to decipher facts, those facts from the experts seem to change from masks, to herd immunity, to rushing vaccines into production that aren’t proven, to how stats and numbers are more of a guessing game than anything.
Believe what you want and as long as someone you believe in says it’s true, it’s your right to believe it is and mine to question it and visa versa. Things are being manipulated on both sides, so yes for me personally I find it hard to believe anything either side says. There in lies the frustration and struggle to digest everything being thrown out there.
Don’t tend to trust news outlets from both sides. And one things for sure, don’t trust a warp speed vaccine wuth a military presence to be pumped into people as being anything more than bad news if it’s not properly tested and vetted no matter if it’s coming from Trump or Bill Gates.
Everything has reached such a sad state of affairs where if you don’t completely believe what someone else believes, there is zero tolerance on either side. Have become so disgusted by both sides of these types of debates it’s heart breaking to watch what’s become of our nation and it’s citizens. Our leaders and political parties are just shining through with a light coming from what’s in the hearts of a lot of Americans, a hatred for anyone who believes anything contrary to what they believe.
Be nice if people could look outside themselves and understand their opinions are just that, opinions. A lot of the kettle calling the pot black going on and it’s growing tiresome. Axe grinding has become an art form on social media and online.
Truly hope everyone and their families are safe, have food and essentials, and aren’t going to be to devastated by this health wise or financially.

AnglingBuzz will start on the 25th this year.
Alexandria is not participating this time so you won’t get to see my lovely face every week
I will be involved in some capacity though.

Well said. If both extremes could meet in the middle with the rest of the country. What did Merle call it? Rainbow stew?

May 18, 2020 at 10:47 am #1943161Here’s a similar story from our past. It is very interesting how it was handled compared to today. The 1968 Pandemic. Hong Kong Flu.
