Holy crap! Retail stores can open if they can safely operate. Gatherings of 10 or less allowed. Restaurants, bars, and salons/barbershops can possibly open June 1.

This is nice to hear. Step in the right direction. Still not sure why I can’t go get a haircut until June….I look like a sheepdog.

Now, let’s all not go crazy and send everyone back to square one. Be safe out there everybody, but start enjoying yourselves again.

With the virus just ramping up in Minnesota and the people unable to restrain themselves I look for it to come back.

It isn’t ever going away. They are saying that the medical field has enough supplies stockpiled to handle the increase. People will still get sick, that’s not changing.

    Call me skeptical.

I’m skeptical that there has been a significant increase. The only increase has been the number of tests performed which therefor increases the numbers of infected at a faster rate.

    But I’m no expert.

I hope all goes well. Many of the “experts” have been wrong. Can’t stay shut down forever and live off the government.

I agree with your assessment. They knew #’s were gonna go up. My step mom works for med company that is making test kits, which came out with just another one as well, and any place that says they can’t get kits is “lying or doesn’t know how to order them”.

We had to lay low until they got supplied and stocked up ready for any surges.

Retail is still only at 50% capacity mind you, same with everything else. Gonna be a long slow creep back into normalcy.

Wonder if I can make a reservation at my favorite bar for June 1?

Heck the first place I am heading is my barbershop.
I can drink at home, if I tip enough even the wife will make them and bring them to me.

She is not cutting my hair!!

Yep, can’t hide forever. But it’s still your choice if you want to try.

Shelter in place isn’t a vaccine.

If you’re a healthy adult under 80 years old it’s time to get back to business.

We need herd immunity against Covid before the next flu season, or next fall/winter will be even more devastating for sick/old people.

The original models that ray charles could see were bs were only off by a few thousand percent. The original excuse to close the state never came to fruition as many health care workers have been laid off for weeks. Opening the state should have happened weeks ago. At least he didn’t force positive patients into nursing homes like the genius in New York accounting for more than 25% of all fatalities in the state. Delaying the inevitable has cost us dearly.

This should be a huge wake up call for people to start being healthy.

I’m fine with this phased in approach. I hope people continue to wear masks in public indoor settings, maintain distance, and practice good hygiene. You won’t catch me in a group of 10 just yet though.

The last few times I’ve been grocery shopping fewer and fewer people are wearing them.
I’m all for intelligent opening, but sadly, a huge percentage of people cant be bothered.

So, I’ll be in my mask showing others I’m at least making an effort. I won’t see the inside of a restaurant this year though.

Some places of retail require it. Menards and costco come to mind. Frankly wouldn’t bother me if most retail establishments made it mandatory.

Glad to hear we are opening in phases. X2 on the “let’s not go nuts” comments about being smart going forward to avoid further disturbance. Herd immunity will not occur anytime soon (or maybe ever) without a viable vaccine, fyi

m skeptical that there has been a significant increase. The only increa

There has certainly been a testing component to the reported increase. Testing doesn’t account for the consistent number of deaths.

And the vast majority of deaths (over 80+%) have been in nursing homes.

All businesses should open back up to customers.

Nursing homes should stay locked down.

Average age of Covid death in Minnesota: 82 years old

Average life expectancy in Minnesota: 81 years old

Let that marinate for a bit

No it doesn’t. But consistent is the key word. We have had consistent daily totals. There hasn’t been a consistent daily death increase. It’s stayed between 20-30 for the most part. And it’s been consistently in nursing homes.

Also if you die in an accident or of a heart attack and test positive you are counted as “died with the virus”.
Also flu, heart disease, diabetes, deaths have gone down since the virus is here. Hmm. Maybe this is a cure

Flu season was ending/is over and a lot of the other causes of death have gone down because of the stay at home order. Average and median age of death is one thing but don’t forget that means 1/2 of the deaths are under that age. A high percentage of deaths taking place in nursing homes can be an argument for the stay at home being effective. I agree with the sentiments above warning against thinking we are in the clear. Wear a mask, wash your hands, limit your exposure. If enough people do that we will get to enjoy our summer

Most people against opening up the state are sitting at home making as much or more than They would if they were working. Not much incentive to get back to doing anything.

Mine never started, so something that never started can’t end.

Sorry but the whole thing is utterly idiotic, filled with hypocrisy and loopholes so wide you could drive galaxies through them. Today at menards it was so swamped it was unbelievable, and u had to wear a mask. Went to home depot a 1/2 mile away, just as busy, no masks.

Keep making no difference at all doing whatever it is you choose to do that you think is having such a huge impact. Keep backing whatever political idiot you voted for and slam the other guys or gals.

Sorry, but if you really don’t see some glaringly obvious problems with this bs, you sat in front of the short bus and liked it, whilst eating a bag full of yummy lead paint chips.

Honesty and reality are unacceptable and not politically correct. Kids should be slapped when they are about to touch a hot stove and most people’s problems nowadays really aren’t problems, just inconveniences. If you’re high risk, stay the fart home. If you’re not, stay away from high risk people. Move the flatulence on already. Open it up and let’er rip ‘tator chip!

As of last night the state supreme court in Wisconsin overturned the governor’s stay at home order immediately following the declaration earlier this week from our forward thinking, problem solving astute govenor who declared in his latest covid update: “the good ole days are over and there not coming back” . Now that’s leadership you can lean on during hard times!

I’m tired of the new normal bs. We are in phase 2 and we got out last weekend. For the most part it was the old normal. Went to our favorite tiki bar and it was all the same. However their small indoor part was closed. No one was weary masks, not even the seniors. Also went to the daiquiri deck and they were spacing people out and the seating at the bar was closed. The beach was packed, but just as before, people were social distancing. I mean who goes to the beach to be closer than 6′ to another group of strangers.

It seems like the only new normal part appears to be following the phased in rules. Once the phased are over, it will be the old normal.

I pray that you guys are right that it’s no big deal and we can get back to normal.

I pray that you’re not wrong and this sickness goes spiralling out of control like it’s been proven it can elsewhere.

I also pray for our medical/scientific community, because if they were wrong with this one, their credibility will be so tarnished that future issues that are real could end up disastrous.

Alot of unknowns still for me. My family is still holding tight and playing cautious for some time. Many of our friends are the same.

Wonder if I can make a reservation at my favorite bar for June 1?

As I left the house this morning headed for work the last thing the wife said was she was going to call a couple of our favorite restaurants to see when we can start making reservations. My hope is that at 6 PM on June 1 I’m sitting at one of our favorite tables at one of our favorite eateries with drinks and apps on order headed our way! One of the things I’ve missed the most during the shutdown is dinner night out with the wife. waytogo

Its pretty obvious by some of the commentary on here that it was and never will be taken very seriously. Clearly no one commenting on here has been infected with a serious case of it either otherwise they would not be spouting off as is if was overblown.

As far as the number of cases rising, the number of tests can be somewhat attributed to that. Also, bear in mind that a large number of the increases lately are from two counties: nobles and stearns. And most of these are from 3 meat packing plants in those two counties. Large groups of people in close proximity is just bad news.
