I want to run a separate battery for the new elite 9 ti. Do I use a deep cycle or will a marine starting battery be adequate? The unit draws .09 amps . I just do not want any possible interference from the battery or trolling motor . I ordered a stand alone mount for the totalscan also . Just looks like a head ache hooking up to trolling motor. Thanks for your time . Don

It doesn’t have to be a huge Group 31, but I’d suggest a deep cycle battery. The Lowrance sonar units are fairly sensitive to battery voltage, so keeping the power up and consistent is definitely a good thing. The deep cycle will provide power for a longer period of time, and it should last longer, giving you more battery life during all of the drain/charge cycles.

    Agreed on the deep cycle.

Thanks guys , now im thinking i ought to get a 27 deep cycle and replace my starting battery which is only used for bilge ,lights and livewell because i have no,power trim or tilt, electric start whistling Then i would run power to the front mounted sonar.Initially was going to put another battery up in the bow ,think 10 ga wire will be heavy enough to run from the stern to bow .
