Anyone planning on hitting the show this weekend? I have never been but planning to go on Sunday. Is it wrong of me to expect getting a discount on big ticket items or even small items such as rods? Also, looking to possibly get a TUCR or DH…hopefully the sell them..maybe even at discount?

Yes (probably Friday for a couple hrs and Sunday for several hours).

No, you will get discounts on most things there as it is a highly competitive environment for the retailers (since there are about 4 within a few hundred feet of each other all selling very similar/the same inventory) and most would prefer not to load said inventory back onto the trucks.

Yes, great opportunity to compare/buy a rod!

It’s a great show. Enjoy and say hello to the IDO boys too!

If you want a deal then wait until the last couple hours on Sunday. Most of the bigger retailers would rather sell it for less than stack it back in the trucks. At least that’s how it was years ago in a bad economy. Today? Or you can leverage items vs other retailers to see if they match. You will be surprised how low they will go whether or not you were actually quoted that price.

My experience with shows is you’re not gonna get a smoking hot deal on one item. Now let’s say you buy 3-4 items that’s where I’ve seen retailers start discounting big time.

Bring $100 get $120 worth of stuff, bring $500 get $800 worth toast

I’m going Friday afternoon right after a sloppy Dago at DeGidios.

This is a big weekend for manufacturers to pedal their wares to guys and gals that are fired up for the impending season. My advice for good deals is to bundle things together.

It’s a great way to see everything on the market under one roof.

I will be at booth 1220 representing our Kraus-Anderson Walleyes on Ice fishing tournament.

Check it out online at http://www.kawalleyesonice.com and stop by. We are giving away TUCR rods at nearly every prize level plus tons of other amazing prizes. I’ll have a TUCR especially made for the event at the booth if you want to see.

Should be a good year for discounts as we are not getting early ice and the season may be a shorter one than normal.

You can get good deals if you ask. They do not want to take home.

This will be our first time at the expo. Really looking forward to it. The only big ticket item I was going to buy, was a Marcum Recon 5+. FishUSA has a great deal on them this week, and I decided to order online. I still may pick up a rod or two, and I’m sure I’ll find a few other things I just can’t live without.

I often find good deals on open water stuff-my friend likes to sit to the cookware demo to get free food.

Is it me or does the show have less exhibitors this year?
I didn’t see much in the way of ATV’s and snowmobiles this year.
I like the way it is layed out, seems to have much more space in the isles for walking.
I didn’t need much this year but I did get 5 tungtens jigs for $10, a pair of Alpaca socks, and a headlamp the can light up the moon.
I had a burger and a Moscow mule at Burger Moe’s before which was excellent.

Did any one see Polar Bird hub shelters at the show? I was looking for them and never found them. I think a lot of people were looking forward to seeing the product in person. With all the talk of these shelters on the ice forums I think they missed out on a huge opportunity if they were not there in my opinion.

My buddy bought an Otter pro lodge last night and worked a deal to not pay tax when he paid cash. About $65 savings. Just gotta ask

I wish I was able to make it to the St. Paul show. I have to go to the Millwaukee show next week and there are like 1/3 of the exhibitors as the St. Paul show.

Best deal I saw was 15 tungsten jigs and a tackle box for $20 @ JRs tackle. Not sure if it was just the first day special or all weekend but they were moving a lot of them yesterday

Hey! Last day of the Ice Expo and we have snow.

If you attend please stop over at booth 1220 (Roy Wilkins Arena). I’d love to tell you why http://www.kawalleyesonice.com is an important Ice Fishing tournament for everyone. All I need is 2-minutes.

We were there when the gates opened on Friday. It was awesome to see all that stuff under one roof. We just don’t get those opportunities down here towards the south edge of the ice belt. I came away with a TUCR Quicktip, a couple Sienna 500’s, and a pile of jigs that I probably didn’t need, but may someday use!

Was my first year attending. Disappointed that there wasn’t any ATVs, sleds, trailers etc involved. Especially since they could have showcased all the add-on stuff to those things. IMO they need a bigger venue. Interest in ice fishing has sky rocketed.
