I have a 24 inch Legend gold and it came with a ultralight spring indicator but would like to fish heavier baits particularly Rapala jigging raps and wondered what would be the recommended action to look for?

To me those type of baits do not call for a spring bobber. Those type of baits are more for a reaction type of bite. Those type of bite are rarely light. To me the spring bobber excels where a real light feeding bite is happening. Those days when the fish are in a real negative mood. Just my .02 worth.

You’ll want a stiffer rod to give a jigging rap a more precise action. I like a 32-36″ medium or med-heavy. This rod will likely be too stiff for a deadstick if you plan to run a big bait that way.

Don’t run the line through the spring bobber, just the regular guides. It will work but UL is a little soft for jigging raps. You’ll want a ML or M.

Is his Legend a good rod for light biting fish? Spring bobber gives sensitivity and the Legend rod had the back bone for setting the hook. I would think this potentially better than a UL rod.
