So anybody been to the St. Croix Factory store, is there prices any cheaper versus buying at a store?

Haven’t been there in a few years. Prices on new rods are full list. The only thing is they have many blems, warranty returns, etc. that are discounted but don’t carry a warranty. My thoughts were with no warranty the discounts were not enough to make it worthwhile to me.
It is neat to see the rod building process and now they offer a full factory tour. You need a reservation for the full tour.

Never been there before but I’m confident it’ll be full list. They wouldn’t be doing their reps any favors by undercutting their prices.

We generally take a “road trip” over there in the winter when spring fever starts setting in.

My dad bought a couple Mojos blems there and had to call and ask to replace one because I noticed it was cracked through the blank. They ended up going on sale in stores soon after, I believe cheaper than he bought his blems for. He said they didn’t seem to have any deals on any other models.

I live pretty close so I visit it relatively frequently. Full list but they do have customer appreciation days. I’d call on that and see what they give, they just had 1 a few weeks ago and I couldnt make it. Ice fishing rods do go on clearance and I have snagged a number of great deals. If you are on a budget it is best to hit the seconds / blemish bin. Ask for help as they are pretty customer driven and will help you find what you want. If its a repair I find a brand new duplicate on the rack and see how much was busted off. Sometimes just the tip is broke on a $300 rod and you can pick it up for $50 fully repaired but no warranty. The more you stop in the better the chance of being there at the right time and finding a deal on a great rod.

I have bought in spring at boat/sport shows at 20 to 30 percent off list from some of the vendors. It helps to be buying more than 1 rod. My BIL and I go together and by 3 or 4 rods at a time. Alot of times they don’t have them all at the show and will ship the rest or all together if you don’t need it ASAP. Usually this is end of Jan. or Feb. so no need to have right away anyway.

Probably easier to pay the $100 for the NPAA Membership and get brand new rods for 40% off…

At 40% off I’d have a hard time believing there is a warranty… is there?

No different than buying new at the store.

So how can you tell what the discounts are for each Partner? Also is there a limit on the gear you can buy? What keeps one guy from getting a membership and ordering rods for all his buddies? Just curious how this works. Do you just call and order from the factory?

How about other partners like Costa and so on… just call the factory?

    Thanks for the info.

Whoa whoa whoa, that’s amazing. Is that $100 / year or just $100 lifetime?

And do they give discounts for the other sponsors(Northland, FishUSA, etc.)

Other suggestion is to just wait until the fall and go to Joe’s Sporting Goods, they had 40% off all rods and 30% off all reels this year, I don’t think there was any exceptions. That’s St. Croix, Fenwick, G Loomis, Shimano, etc.

Otherwise they regularly have 20% off sales on their fishing rods.

Hey Folks–Maybe I can answer a few of the questions in this thread. Within St. Croix we have three basic types of rods: A, B and C stock. A stock is brand new, top of the line. B stock is either brand new with slight cosmetic issues that we flagged during the inspection process or rods that have been returned with very, very little usage/wear. C stock is typically warranty returns that have been fixed enough to fish again but remain far enough off the original spec to be an issue. Generally these will be rods with broken tips where new tip tops have simply been put on and called good.

All A stock rods are full price with full warranty. As mentioned above, we have very high expectations for our retailing partners in maintaining MSRP/MAP and keep to those standards ourselves for A stock rods. B stock rods are discounted anywhere from 30% – 60% off MSRP/MAP, depending upon the issue, and carry a one year warranty. C stock rods are pricing at: $30 for non-Legend rods, $50 for Legend rods and up to $100 for musky rods and carry zero warranty. Additionally, B and C stock rods are available in our Factory Store for in-store purchasing only and are not available for purchase over the phone or internet. As one would imagine, B and C stock inventory is constantly changing.

I hope this helps address some of the questions above.
